A nation finds a common identity. She gets united by the common interests of war against colonial exploitation. Because despite the diversity India is one at heart and that unity rose to its peak in 1857. This revolution was too hard to suppress. And even suppression could be temporary. This revolution would sow the seeds of nationalism in India. Anti-colonial activities would see a massive rise. It would not stop or slow down until the abolition of colonial rule in India. The emergence of 'Adhunik Hindi Kavya' The colonial rulers called it ‘sepoy mutiny’ to try and reduce its significance. But, it was a revolution that led to the emergence of ‘Adhunik Hindi Kavya’. Poetry no longer confined itself to entertaining the rich. Poetry was now a medium to sympathize with the nation and her exploited people. It was a nation where spirituality and progress had always walked hand in hand. The stories of bravery of Indian heroines have inspired the Indian teenage girl to date. Bharatend...

Graphic designer courses often include theories like color theory or meanings of shapes. Rarely do you find them in action. But, the best way to learn something is to do it. Let us examine the shapes, colors, and textures used here. All graphic design blogs by Subarna Creative. All blogs by Subarna Creative.

How did Babur come to rule India? If you have heard about the Taj Mahal then you might have heard of its builder too. Shah Jahan was a Mughal ruler who built the Taj Mahal. But, how did Mughals come to India? Babur was the founder of the Mughal dynasty in India. But, he ruled over a small part of Afghanistan. Then what attracted him to India? Poetry sowed the seeds of nationalism in India. How? Here's the answer. If poetry began to include the masses then did it get divorced from medieval traditions? If not then how did both go hand in hand? The answer comes with the beginning of 'Adhunik Hindi Kavya' and Bharatendu Harishchandra.  We say some writers are better than all others. But, that is our personal choice. When Wordsworth wrote then we call it the Romantic Era. But, he had many contemporaries who wrote nothing of nature. So, some authors form a part of tradition and canon. How did English literature form its canon? Read on ...   There is something so liberating about colors. There is something very liberating about zig-zag lines of paint. There is something very liberating about a blank piece of watercolor paper. This is the freedom to imagine and watch that imagination take shape. You do not adhere to a plan but you know what you want. The boundaries of the rectangular paper end up liberating you.   I saw several photographs of a sophisticated white house and many stairs coming out of it. I somehow pictured a beautiful blue sky. Then I pictured that on top of a mountain. To be honest, this is my first landscape painting. I am used to moving my brush in any manner and making florals. I am proud of what I have done. I love the fact that I am perfectly imperfect! I am human.  I have moved my brush the way I see patterns in nature. It can be challenging to decipher what the painting depicts. Still, I see a waterfall and a high hill follow the same pattern. A waterfall is blue and rectangular. A mo...

The illusion of depth is like the magic of warm and cool colors. Place a cool color in the background and warm color in the foreground. A two-dimensional picture turns more meaningful.  This is where experimenting with color theory comes in.  I often make mandalas and it gives me peace. You will find mandalas throughout Indian temples. There is something magical about making a mandala. You start off with a blank canvas and draw a circle. You don't know where your inspiration comes from. But, when you lift your eyes off the canvas, a beautiful picture looks back at you.  I will use this mandala to describe warm and cool colors in color theory. And, I will also explain saturation, tone, and shade of colors in color theory.  The warm color is energetic and draws attention. It seems to come close to the viewer. Examples of warm colors include red, orange, and yellow. Cool colors like blue and green look peaceful. They don't attract much attention. They seem to mov...

The outline of a castle I read myriads of color theory blogs and summed them up in a bunch of blogs. Then I decided to experiment with color theory concepts. Thus I used some simple shapes in the Microsft word to draw a castle. Here is the outline.   Then I decided to use blue and purple to paint this castle. I have used different color temperatures, values, saturations, etc of these colors. So, the difference lies in color values. It can convey different meanings about the same castle.  Four different color combinations convey four different messages If you watch animated movies then these four images will look like the same castle. In different scenes, they depict it in different ways.  These four castles depict four different scenarios. The differences are subtle but important. Let us discuss them. An interpretation using color theory Colors create an illusion of depth This picture uses two warm colors and cool colors. Cool colors tend to recede to the back...
